Morning Consult / Politico Poll: More Americans Trust GOP Gun Policy
From the Foundation of the Second Amendment. . .
The Second Amendment Foundation today pointed out that a new Morning Consult / Politico survey found that the public trusted Republicans more than Democrats when it came to gun policy, acknowledging Americans rejecting the program. radical gun control Democrats.
The survey of nearly 2,000 registered voters was conducted November 5-7 and found that in the top five areas of concern – national security, the economy, gun policy, immigration and jobs – poll results show Democrats are lagging behind.
“These survey results are revealing, especially on firearms policies,” said SAF founder and executive vice president Alan M. Gottlieb. âAfter years of failed gun control policies, the public has finally concluded that Democrats have only worked to disarm law-abiding citizens and make us more vulnerable to criminal attack. Policies heralded as keeping guns out of the hands of criminals have in fact only been harsh with their intended victims.
âThe survey found that 46% of all American voters think Republicans do a better job on gun policy, while 39% still cling to the idea that Democrats have the right approach,â but 15% are still in the middle, “he continued. âWhen the poll numbers focus on important suburban voters, the numbers get even worse. Forty-seven percent of suburban voters believe Republicans are better on gun policy, while only 37 percent support Democrats’ plans and 16 percent remain undecided.
âThe ten percent margin in the suburbs is extremely important for the upcoming 2022 midterm elections,â Gottlieb said. âThis is where almost all of the swing congressional districts are located. It could cost Democrats between 40 and 60 seats in the House. “
SAF has broadcast over 1,000 national TV spots on more than 24 cable networks, as well as radio commercials and millions of internet impressions have helped educate the public on gun policy and the survey reflects impact.
Gottlieb pointed to the results of the Virginia election, which signaled a “new leadership in the Old Dominion.” Commonwealth voters filled every state office with Republicans and brought the House back under GOP control after two disastrous years.
“I predict that Virginia gun owners will push the new administration and the legislative majority to quickly reverse the policies adopted by Ralph Northam and his cronies in 2020,” Gottlieb predicted. “These policies, especially the destruction of state preemption which ensures uniformity of gun laws throughout the state and restricting the purchase of one handgun per month, penalize the honest citizens and do nothing to reduce violent crime.
“Democrats may have forgotten that the right to own and bear arms is constitutionally protected,” he concluded. âRights are not a public vote, but people who attempt to infringe these rights certainly are. Voters have made it clear in Virginia and are ready to do it again in November 2022. “
