MI Republican calls for bipartisan gun safety law
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Republican State Representative Mark Tisdel on Wednesday announced a plan to encourage statewide gun safety through secure storage.
Tisdel leads a bipartisan coalition of Michigan lawmakers sponsoring a plan to encourage gun owners to follow safety protocols by encouraging increased training and access to improved gun storage.
He said tax credits for expenses related to training and equipment, including criminal and civil defense protections conditional on safe storage, will help promote gun safety across the country. ‘State.
“Safe storage is important not only to secure firearms from those who would take them and use them for evil, but also to prevent tragic accidents involving children,” Tisdel said in a press release. “Through liability protections and tax savings, our bipartisan plan will encourage smart, safe habits among responsible gun owners.”
The legislative package includes four domestic bills, sponsored by both Democrats and Republicans.
“Finding common ground to prevent deaths and injuries from the abuse and misuse of weapons must be a priority. These bipartisan policy proposals will help start a serious discussion about how to make Michigan safer,” Tisdel said.
